Amateur Draft
The Amateur Draft is done automatically and the draft order is set according to the previous season's record and playoff
performance. If there are any amateurs on the Prospect List that an owner wishes to attempt to obtain then those draft preferences
can be e-mailed to the commissioner's office before the draft. Draft picks MAY be traded.
Spring Training
Spring Training is the time of year where players can learn new skills or refine their current skills. There are four
categories of skills for each player to concentrate on. Once Spring Training is completed there will be a progress report
posted on the league website to show if any players improved their skills, if any players had a degradation of their skills
or if the players remained basically the same as before Spring Training.
Trades
Trades are acceptable from the pre-season through the end of July (simulation time). As of the last game on July 31
trades will be restricted by the waiver wire. The waiver wire basically allows teams within the same division 1 week to improve
upon a trade proposal. Waiver proposals are NOT a bidding process. They are instead a closed bid. Once the last game of
the regular season is completed no trades are allowed by any team until the post-season is completed. Remember: The
only way a player can leave a team is by being cut, retirement or by trade. So keep those trade offers flowing. Note:
The Waiver process is NOT worked into the software that runs the simulation. The process will be refined as needed AFTER
the regular season. Suggestions are welcomed, but not guaranteed.
Rosters
Roster changes are always permitted. These include moving players between the various minor league levels, releasing
players, promoting players to the major leagues, demoting players to the minors, disabled list transactions and free agent
signings. There are a few roster size restrictions that can not be exceeded. Each level of the minor leagues are limited
to 50 players. Major league rosters are limited to 25 players except during the month of September when the rosters may be
expanded to 40 players.
Lineups
Each owner may adjust the lineups if they desire or they may allow the computer to set default lineups. Lineups vs.
left-handed and right-handed pitchers may be set, either with or without a designated hitter (which is used for games in AL
parks). The defensive assignments may be adjusted as well, including platoon percentages (how often a player starts in place
of another player) and what player(s) are used as late-game defensive substitutions if needed. The level of adjustment is
up to each owner's preference of control. The computer settings are sufficient to make a competitive team.
Pitching rotations may also be set based on the level of involvement that an owner wishes to have. The rotations can
be set at either 3-man, 4-man or 5-man rotations. There can be spot starter, mop-up and mid relievers, set-up and closer
assignments if so desired.
Each of these may also be set for the 3 minor league levels as well.
